Veteran Salute: Russel Skraastad

We are honoring the men and women who served our country through Veterans Day.

On Nov. 11, we want to salute U.S. Navy veteran Russel Skraastad.

Russel served in the Navy for 20 years, working fire control on naval destroyers.

He retired in 1979 and went on to serve another 30 years for the DOD and DOT.

Russel then worked for the FAA Academy in OKC before officially retiring in 2009.

Even at 80 years old, he decided he needed to keep his mind busy, so he starting taking classes at Oklahoma Christian.
