Washington County Deputy Who Died In The Line Of Duty Is Laid To Rest

A community said goodbye to a Washington County deputy who died in the line of duty.

Family, friends and hundreds of officers from across the country said goodbye Friday to a Washington County deputy who died in the line of duty.

Deputy Kyle Davis died last week while trying to restrain a suspect at the Washington County jail.

Kyle's' family said it is a day to celebrate his life. Kyle's father, Randy Davis, said his son had a heart of gold, was a gentle giant with a great sense of humor that was evident with all the funny stories told about Kyle in his funeral.

Law enforcement from across the state and country packed Copan High School Friday to support Kyle and his family.

Kyle's wife said she is so proud of her husband and he made the ultimate sacrifice.

During the service, Kyle's dad read a letter Kyle wrote to his parents when he was in high school for a project. The topic of the letter was if Kyle were die, this is what he wants the people he left behind to know.

"You ever wonder, just where I might be, its 4th and goal with two seconds left and they're giving the ball to me. I'm hoisted in the air mama, I'm right here with the Lord. Everyone is cheering mama, the reason I just scored," Randy read in the words of his son.
