Two early morning crimes scenes, less than a mile from each other in northwest Oklahoma City, left one man dead and a teenager wounded.

Police said a similar pickup was seen leaving both crime scenes.

Despite the proximity, timing and vehicle descriptions from the two scenes, investigators said there are still several unanswered questions.

“This morning I heard a loud boom sound like a gunshot and then a little while later there was police all over the place,” a neighbor, Laura Choate, said

It all started when officers were called to NW 28th and Woodward for a man gunned down on a bicycle.

“He was transported to OU Medical Center by EMSA, where sadly he passed away as a result of the shooting,” Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.

Police have been unable to identify the victim. They said a white pickup was caught on surveillance cameras leaving the scene.

“It scared me, but I didn’t want to get up and go look. It scared me enough I didn’t want to go look,” Choate said.

Less than a mile away and less than an hour later near NW 34th and Drexel, officers were called to another scene.

“We have a teenage male victim that was dropped off at his house and came in. His mother actually called the police saying he was dropped off by someone in a white pickup and that he had been shot,” Capt. Jeff Spruill said at the second scene.

Police said the teenager told officers he didn't know who, when, or where he was shot.

“Right now, we don’t have any direct evidence that connects these two things other than this description of a white pick up,” Spruill said.

With an unidentified deceased victim, an uncooperative second victim and an unknown suspect description, police said the investigation continues.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Oklahoma City homicide tip line at 405-297-1200.
