City Of Tulsa To Hold Internet Subsidy Session For Families In Need

Some people in Tulsa can't afford to have internet access at their home, but the city has a way to potentially change that. The City of Tulsa will hold an information session on Thursday, November 5, at 6:30 p.m. on how you can qualify for a subsidy under the Internet Access Plan. The session will be held virtually, with the money coming from the city's portion of the CARES Act funding.

Some people in Tulsa can't afford to have internet access at their home, but the city has a way to potentially change that.

The City of Tulsa will hold an information session on Thursday, November 5, at 6:30 p.m. on how you can qualify for a subsidy under the Internet Access Plan. The session will be held virtually, with the money coming from the city's portion of the CARES Act funding.

City officials said to qualify, families must have a student currently enrolled in Tulsa, Union, or Jenks Public Schools, Educare, Headstart, or CAP Tulsa who are receiving either government assistance or are impacted in one of the following ways:

  1. Those who receive free and reduced lunch
  2. Those who participate in:
  3. WIC
  4. SNAP
  5. LIHEAP
  6. TANF
  7. Those who receive tenant-based vouchers
  8. Those who live in Section 8 Housing or live in Public Housing
  9. Those who have lost at least 25 percent of their income due to COVID-19

During Thursday's informational session, Tulsa Respond's team of navigators will be answering questions about the enrollment process and assist families with sign up.
