Oklahoma City Police said a 21-year-old was arrested after a deadly 7-Eleven shooting in Yukon Thursday morning.

Police say George L. Way robbed the 7-Eleven store, at the intersection of Southwest 15th Street and Mustang Road, early Thursday morning.

According to police, 30-year-old Laura Taylor followed Way out into the parking lot after the robbery. That’s where Way allegedly shot and killed Taylor.

Police believed Taylor possibly followed Way to catch a tag on a car.

Officers said someone in the area heard the gunshots and called 911.

When police arrived to the scene, they found Taylor dead in the parking lot.

Monica Pickens and Cassie Kinet live nearby. They said they didn’t know the victim, but they brought flowers and prayed for the family.

“I saw we had yet another murder at a 7-Eleven here in Yukon,” said Kinet. “I knew that I wanted to contact my pastor to come out here and pray.”

“We’re prayer warriors, so just wanted to be here to support the friends the family [and] the co-workers,” said Pickens.

Kinet said she’s concerned for employees who work late at night in the area.

“It’s absolutely terrifying. My husband works about a mile down the road at a hotel. [He works] a third shift. He’s by himself at night and it’s a constant fear," said Kinet

In a statement, 7-Eleven told News 9 “Our hearts are with the victim’s family. We are gathering information and working with local law enforcement.”

Way is facing a first-degree murder and armed robbery complaint.
