Editor's note: An earlier version of this story reported that Hatchett was being held on $3,700 bond. That bond was for unrelated charges. She's being held without bond on the murder complaint.
Tulsa police arrested a woman Tuesday in the stabbing death of a 72-year-old Tulsa man.
Rena Hatchett, 39, was located at the Day Center for the Homeless and arrested for the murder of Jim Burton.
Burton is Tulsa's 49th homicide of the year, according to Sergeant Dave Walker of the Tulsa Police Department.
Burton was found dead in front of his opened apartment door at 32nd and South Winston at 4 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011. Witnesses told police that Hatchett was the last person to see Burton Saturday.
"His door is ajar, slightly and his body was on the ground, blocking, where you couldn't get into the door," Walker said.
Police at the scene weren't sure it was a homicide until the medical examiner found a stab wound to the man's heart.
Police say an 83-year-old woman who knew Burton found the body after he missed a date Saturday night.
"He had a lot of women visitors to his apartment; he was classified as a ladies' man. He was supposed to go to an American Legion dance last Saturday night and he didn't make it to the dance," Walker said.
Rena Hatchett is being held without bond at the Tulsa County Jail.
