SPENCER, Okla. -- Independence Day revelers left a mess for Spencer business.
Larry Reagan found hundreds of fireworks left over from Friday night in the parking lot of his automotive business. The parking lot also was littered with busted beer bottles and dirty diapers.
Reagan blames the city of Spencer and Oklahoma City Public Schools. Previously, residents were legally allowed to shoot off fireworks from the parking lot of the Star-Spencer School. This year the school was off limits because because it was costing the school district thousands of dollars to clean-up the trash.
Reagan and others want the city to clean up the mess.
"I will not clean it up," he said. "That's a promise. I might run out of business or I might get run out of town, but I will not clean it up. It ain't my mess.
Reagan has put up no trespassing signs to keep people away for the rest of the weekend.
A Spencer police officer says it's legal to shoot fireworks in the city so there's little officers can do. He said if citizens and business owners have concerns, they should contact City Hall on Monday.
