PASADENA, California -- The West Coast is prepping a New Year's tradition, the Rose Bowl Parade, and five Oklahomans will be marching in the famous event.
The 120th Rose Bowl Parade is preparing to make its way down the streets of Pasadena, California. The annual flowery tradition will become a reality thanks to the hundreds of volunteers that build each float flower petal by flower petal.
When you turn on your TV to the Tournament of Roses Parade, five Oklahomans will be marching along, including drummer Chris Adkins.
The Jenks High School junior will be playing a bass drum in the Bands of America Honor Band. He auditioned for the honor band in February and was accepted in April.
"In the middle of November the drum line got together. It's a 31 person drum line, it's a huge drum line. We all got together in Indianapolis," Adkins said.
Adkins left for Pasadena on Christmas Day.
