OKLAHOMA CITY – Santa Claus was on hand to help Mayor Mick Cornett officially kick off Oklahoma City's Christmas celebration.
The mayor and Santa lit up the SandRidge Christmas tree just north of Kerr Park. It marked the beginning of the eight annual Downtown in December event.
Families are already hitting the ice at the Devon Ice Rink which is located just east of the Civic Center.
There's also the Chesapeake Snow Tubing, which is the nation's largest manmade snow tubing slope. The skating rink is open every day from noon to 10 p.m. at night.
The spring-like weather was a welcome relief for some skaters.
"Usually it's like really cold inside and it's 74 and it feels great," ice skater Jordan Myeir said.
The snow tubing at the Bricktown Ballpark is open Friday Saturday and Sundays until December 18, after that it's open 7 days a week.
