OKLAHOMA CITY -- Dan Boren has won the Democratic primary for U.S. House District 2. Boren will race against the winner of the Republican primary runoff election.
Republicans Charles Thompson and Daniel Edmonds will face off on August 24 in the runoff election.
Boren has been the U.S. Representative for District 2 since 2004. He won by 72 percent of the vote. Boren's opponent was Jim Wilson.
"I am running for office to create jobs in Eastern Oklahoma. I want to build upon my record of independent leadership for the state of Oklahoma," Boren said.
Other Republican challengers were Chester Clem Falling, Daniel Arnett, Howard Houchen and Raymond Wickson.
Thompson received over 36 percent of the vote, while Edmonds received 28 percent.
