OKLAHOMA CITY – About one million people are expected to visit the Oklahoma State Fair this year.
Fair-goers can expect the typical fair favorites including concerts, deep fried food and dozens of rides. Foods that can be seen this year at the fair include deep-fried bacon cheddar mashed potatoes on-a-stick, roast beef sundae, chocolate covered deep-fried bacon, pizza frenchee and fried peaches.
There are 72 rides and attractions, 200 food venders and a dozen concerts this year.
People attending the fair may also be able to claim big money. State Treasurer Scott Meacham said he's looking for the owners of $300 million worth of old paychecks, rebates and bank accounts. The unclaimed property booth will be open in the Cox Pavilion.
Opening day will cost anyone interesting in attending just $1. Admission for all other days of the fair are $8 for adults (ages 12 and older), $5 for children (ages 6 – 11) and free for children 5 and under.
