OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City police said body heat made it easy to find three suspected copper thieves early Monday morning.
Police said Larry Petit, Luke Ogle, and Leonard Duvall used bolt cutters to break into a substation at S.E. 134th Street and Lake Stanley Draper Drive in southeast Oklahoma City. The men are accused of filling several bags with stolen copper before running away, but they did not get far.
Police used the department's helicopter, Air One, to catch the suspects. The helicopter has a feature that seeks out body heat. Police said in the frigid temperatures the three men were easy to find. They were only on the run for about 15 minutes before officers on the ground arrested them.
