EDMOND, Oklahoma -- A dog abandoned outside during a blizzard has a new home.
Someone left the German shepherd mix tied up outside the Edmond Animal Shelter during a snowstorm at the beginning of February. Workers named him Ho'kee, the Navajo word meaning abandoned.
The shelter had several inquiries about adopting Ho'kee, but Mike Burton and his wife ultimately took the dog home. They say he's already become part of the family.
"He's a very affectionate dog," said Burton. "He's having a great time. We've got a fairly large backyard so he and our son's dog go out and run around."
Burton says Ho'kee is still very hungry and the family is working to get him to a healthy weight.
