The Norman Police Department is hoping the public can help catch an armed robber suspected of targeting two convenience stores in January.

The first robbery occurred January 17 at the Circle K at Main Street and N. Pickard; the second happened two days later at Sooner Food Mart at George Ave. and Stinson Street.

Police said both robberies happened between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. During both crimes, the clerk was alone in the store. In the first robbery, the robber stole an undisclosed amount of cash, but in the second instance he took the entire cash register because the clerk refused to open it.

Neither victim could provide a detailed description of the suspect. They could only say he was a black male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, with either a ski mask or a bandana covering his face.

Police have released pictures taken from surveillance video of the robberies. Neither image has a clear view of the robber's face, but police are hoping someone will recognize the man or have some information that will lead investigators to a suspect.

If you know anything about these robberies, you are urged to call the Norman Police Department at (405) 321-1600 or Norman Crime Stoppers at (405) 366-7867.
