Driving conditions in parts of the metro are slushy and dangerous, but public schools in the metro are open Monday.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers have cleared dozens of accidents from roadways. There was a six-car crash at Lake Hefner Parkway and N.W. 63rd Street Monday morning. A semi-truck also jackknifed on Interstate 40 westbound at Country Club. The lanes reopened around 7:30 a.m.
Tierney Cook-Tinnin with Oklahoma City Public Schools said school bus drivers have been on the roads and the district is confident drivers can safely transport students.
Edmond, Norman and Moore schools are also open.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said as long as people take it slow, they should not have any problems. However, some drivers are traveling too fast for the slick conditions. Several drivers crashed or slid off roads Monday morning across the metro.
Here's the latest on road conditions from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation:
ODOT crews throughout the state continue to plow areas of snow accumulation and apply sand and salt to roadways and bridges statewide. Drivers are asked to drive with caution and plan for additional travel time for their morning commute.
Road and bridge conditions statewide range from slick and hazardous in western Oklahoma to slick in spots and slush covered in central, eastern and northeastern parts of the state.
Motorists statewide are advised to stay cautious as temperatures are expected to remain at or below freezing through the early morning hours. Morning commuters should be alert for slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses and drive for the conditions.
Additionally, extra care should be taken when traveling through work zones and areas of heavy congestion.
