Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers have arrested a man who ran away on foot after leading troopers on a chase in a stolen van in the Oklahoma City metro, Tuesday morning.
According to the OHP, a trooper originally pulled over a vehicle with a flat tire for a motorist assist. However, the driver got out of his vehicle and ran away.
Troopers said the man then stole a van in the area of Interstate 35 and S.E. 15th. He crashed into several cars, and even tried to hit an OHP trooper in an attempt to get away.
A trooper fired several shots. No one was hit. OHP officials said the man then led the trooper on a high-speed chase.
The suspect bailed out of the van and ran away on foot in a Del City neighborhood near E. Reno Avenue and Crosby Drive.
At about 9 a.m., News 9 confirmed with OHP officials that the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Charles D. McGee, has been taken into custody behind a home. He has been booked into the Oklahoma County Jail.
McGee faces multiple complaints, including assault and battery with a deadly weapon, endangering others while eluding police officer, hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in damage to a fixture legally upon or adjacent to a highway, no seat belt, obstructing police officer, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
