Oklahoma City police are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting on the northwest side early Wednesday morning.

Police cars line the 3300 block of Grand Blvd. near N.W. 69th St., as multiple investigators piece together what happened.

It began at Integris Baptist hospital where a man was being treated for a significant head injury. He told officers another man assaulted him with a gun at a home near N.W. 69th and Grand.

When officers arrived at the house around 2:15 a.m., the suspect, now identified as 40-year-old Ronnie Calvert, was outside. Two officers saw Calvert had a gun and asked him to put it down.

However, according to police, Calvert pointed the gun at the officers and the officers opened fire. News 9 is told Calvert is in surgery with critical injuries.

As with all officer-involved shootings, the officers are on routine administrative leave during two investigations. One will be done by homicide investigators and another by internal investigators.

Meanwhile, anyone in this area should expect delays on Grand Blvd. as several police cars line the street.
