Crews have finally gotten a handle on a grass fire that flared up near Interstate 35 and E. Danforth Rd. in Edmond, Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out on the east side of I-35 and south of Danforth Rd., just to the north of the Arbor Creek housing subdivision. Strong winds are drove the flames south, in the direction of the housing addition.
Firefighters worked diligently and just before 4 p.m. had the fire mostly under control. Also as of 4 p.m. the homes were no longer being threatened. Crews will stay in the area and monitor hot spots.
Approximately 40 acres of land has burned so far. The cause has not yet been determined.
