Firefighters were at the scene of a fire early Tuesday in southwest Oklahoma City.
The fire was reported about 4 a.m. in the 7500 block of S Sherwood Avenue. The fire started at the Ashley Park Apartments in the building that housed the laundry room which is not occupied.
Crews battled the fire in a defensive position and the buildings surrounding the burning one were evacuated.
Many residents stayed warm in their vehicles.
Due to trees and a swimming pool, access to the building was limited. While some firefighters were covered in ice and some of the radios froze, the other equipment worked well, fire officials said.
No one was displaced from their homes as firefighters were able to contain the fire to the one building.
Fire officials said it appears the fire started on the second floor near a fireplace, but the cause has yet to be determined.
