Hi Friends!
Oklahomans have such big hearts. Not only will they feed the homeless in downtown Oklahoma City, they'll feed the hungriest children in the world in the country of Malawi in Africa.
Harvey and Waynetta Thrailkill, along with Donnie and Debhora Dunkin from El Reno, Oklahoma have dedicated their lives to feeding the children in Malawi. They started a foundation called the Great Commission Missions. The two couples have traveled to Malawi several times and have set up 3 feeding centers in different regions of the country so that no more kids will starve.
These generous Oklahomans say, they're often asked why they go half way around the world to feed kids when there are people right here near home who need help too. To that, Great Commission Missions President Donnie Dunkin says:
"There have been people here in El Reno, people here in the state and other areas that say, ‘Well, why do you go to Malawi to feed kids there when there are starving people in Oklahoma and in America?' But generally in America there's a remedy. You can get food somewhere. If you're homeless you can get shelter somewhere. You need medical attention, you can get it somewhere. But in Malawi there's no remedy. If you're hungry, you're just hungry. If you're sick, you're just sick. If you're without a home, you're just without a home."
