A Love County District Court judge formally sentenced two men in connection with an illegal horse racing operation in southern Oklahoma.

Arturo Cavazos and Juan Lopez each received a five-year deferred sentence. Both men will also pay a $65,000 assessment to the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission and the attorney general's office. Prosecutors say the two conducted illegal races from July 2004 to August 2007.

Cavazos and Lopez were charged in February and pleaded guilty to conspiracy.
