Students Outraged Over Teachers’ Racial Slur

Students at Star Spencer High School have brought several complaints against a teacher accused of writing a racial slur on a school board on Inauguration Day.

STAR SPENCER, Oklahoma -- Students at Star Spencer High School have brought several complaints against a teacher accused of writing a racial slur on a school board on Inauguration Day.

Principal Chris Gardner said many students complained about seeing the slur written on a classroom board. Gardner said there's no lesson to be learned and does not promote the use of the racial-charged term.

"In my opinion, that has no place in the classroom," Gardner said.

He said all the Star Spencer High School staff will take cultural sensitivity training, and the teacher in question will answer to administration.
