NORMAN, Oklahoma -- In Norman, jury selection has begun in the murder trial of 53-year-old William Eugene Davis.
Davis allegedly shot gunned three of his female relatives to death in a Norman home. Davis is charged with killing 52-year-old Tami Link, 56-year-old Sheila Ellis and Link's 87-year-old mother-in-law, Letannah Bishop, on Sept. 4, 2007.
The trial was originally scheduled for last May, but it was postponed after new evidence in the case was discovered.
The District Attorney is seeking the death penalty for Davis. Starting today, potential jurors will be examined about their views on the death penalty in Judge Lori Walkley's chambers. Prosecutors and defense attorneys will be present, along with the defendant.
The examination of the jury pool is expected to take much of the week. District Attorney Greg Mashburn has said he expects the trial to last about three weeks.
