OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City woman faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of an infant she was babysitting, according to police.

Police responded to a report of a deceased child at an apartment in the 2000 block of N.W. 35th Street on May 2. Police said 63-year-old Millie Jean Cross was watching the infant, 4-month-old Malachi Brooks. When officers arrived they learned Brooks had already been taken to the hospital by EMSA.

The infant was pronounced dead at the hospital.

An autopsy done by the medical examiner's office ruled the case a homicide and the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head.

Thursday, investigators arrested Cross on a first-degree murder complaint in the infant's death.
