OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma soldier, who deployed to Iraq despite being a convicted sex offender, will be discharged.
Johnathan Sokoll, 27, pleaded guilty to soliciting sex with a minor back in 2007. Because of this conviction, Sokoll should not have been able to deploy to Iraq in 2008, but he did not report the conviction to his commanding officer.
Sokoll did not come in contact with children during his deployment, but he did carry a weapon, which is against the law for convicted felons.
