OKLAHOMA CITY -- A motorcyclist was transported to the hospital after he slammed into the back of a Ford Expedition at Interstate 35 and Grand Boulevard.
Troopers say 58-year-old James Schritter of Oklahoma City was taken to a metro hospital in critical condition with head, internal and other injuries.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers said the SUV had stopped on the on-ramp of I-35 because of traffic. Schritter, who was looking over his shoulder to merge, did not realize the SUV was not moving.
The motorcycle left about 15 feet of skid marks before striking the rear of the SUV. Schritter fell off the right side of the bike and came to rest about six feet away.
Troopers said there was an odor of alcohol on the motorcyclist. Cause of the accident is listed as driver inattention. The accident report does not say if Schritter was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the Ford SUV, an Edmond man, was not injured.
