OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Blood Institute launched a free iPhone application to make donating easier.
The GiVE BLOOD app allows blood donors to schedule appointments to donate, view a map of nearby OBI centers and area blood drives and follow a countdown clock on when donors are eligible to donate.
Donors who download the free app will also receive a free iPhone cover to showcase support of blood donation.
"This innovative app, developed by Oklahoma Blood Institute, allows our donors to have a constant and convenient connection to the life-saving service they provide," said John Armitage, M.D., President and CEO. "Since there is a constant need for blood for those in our area, this can potentially improve how often people make donation part of their active lives."
The Oklahoma Blood Institute is the twelfth largest, non-profit blood center in America and provides blood for patients all across Oklahoma including all metro Oklahoma City hospitals.
Anyone may download the free app by going to the iTunes store and searching for "GiVE BLOOD."
