OKLAHOMA CITY -- Stunning evidence that in some circles political correctness is more important than honesty.
National Public Radio has fired a liberal commentator for remarks he made on the O'Reilly Factor Monday night.
Juan Williams was discussing the remarks that Bill O'Reilly made on the View about Muslims and 9/11 when Williams said this:
"..when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous."
He was being honest, expressing the emotions a lot of Americans feel.
I was watching that night, and his remark did surprise me a bit, but I think he was assessing his own attitude and how he has to deal with it.
CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relations labeled the comments inflammatory and called on NPR to take action. They did by firing their employee of 10 years by phone call.
NPR said it warned Williams about stating his opinion on Fox. NPR is being blasted from almost all sides for this decision.
By the way, Thursday Fox News gave Williams a new 3 year deal worth $2 million.
