WARR ACRES, Oklahoma -- Warr Acres was the site of a Fall Citywide Garage Sale event Saturday, November 13. The event was expanded to allow collection of donations for many holiday giving projects.
Booths were set up from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dorothy Cavenar Park in the 5200 block of North Hammond.
"It's wonderful to combine a high-traffic event with the opportunity for residents to give toward community service projects," said Jan Blake, city councilwoman and event coordinator. "Our recycling volunteers will also be on site for residents who wish to bring their items for recycling."
The Warr Acres Fire Department had newest vehicle on display, and the city's first responders presented safety demonstrations and performed some health screenings. The police department collected donations of new toys for their holiday toy drive.
Local Girl Scouts were on hand to collect new or gently used coats for their "Share the Warmth" service project, and Boy Scouts offered free beverage in gratitude for those who bring a non-perishable food item as part of their Scouting for Food campaign.
