OKLAHOMA CITY – A state lawmakers wants to make sure TSA employees aren't abusing their power when it comes to pat-downs.
State Representative John Bennett will introduce House Bill 1245. It would allow federal employees and contractors working for the TSA to face felony charges if they touch or feel the body or private parts of any child under 16 in a lewd manner.
The bill also lets citizens request local police be present when pat-downs are conducted.
"I want to send a direct message to the federal government or to any federal entity you can't just do whatever you want because you have that authority or that power. You don't have the authority to take advantage of our fears of security," said Rep. Bennett.
If passed, the legislation would allow for civil lawsuits to be pursued against any TSA official accused of sexual battery.
