OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt issued an opinion Friday that cities do not have the authority to ban the sale of pseudoephedrine in tablet form without a doctor's prescription.
The opinion comes after several Oklahoma towns had passed ordinances limiting the over-the-counter sale of pseudoephrine-containing products to liquid or gel-cap forms only.
Proponents of the ordinances said they will carry their fight to the state legistlature next year.
