OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City School district is looking for unserved children to enroll in its services.
Putnam City Schools' Special Services Department is seeking children ages 3 through 21, who have a disability and live in the Putnam City school district.
"Children with special needs, regardless of the severity of their disabilities, are entitled to a free, appropriate education," said Lynette Thompson, director of Special Services.
The district abides by the reauthorization of the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act of 2004, Public Law 108-446, which mandates that each public school maintain an ongoing effort to search for and find children who live in the school district and who have special needs.
People living in the Putnam City school district who know of a child with special needs who is not currently enrolled in a special education program are invited to contact the district's Special Services department at (405) 495-3770.
