SEMINOLE, Oklahoma -- The identity of the body found near Seminole Tuesday is that of missing woman, Veronica Carlson, her family said.
Wimena Hughes, Carlson's sister tells News 9 that the Seminole County Sheriff told the family on Wednesday that the body they found buried in a shallow grave was Carlson. However, the Sheriff's Department is not confirming the identity of the body at this time.
Authorities arrested Carlson's ex-boyfriend, Roger Gober, of Seminole and his fiancee, Marilee Smotherman, in connection with Carlson's disappearance.
Gober and Smotherman appeared before a judge Wednesday, but haven't been formally charged with a crime.
According to court documents, Gober admitted to killing his ex-girlfriend. Authorities discovered a woman's body Tuesday.
The family tells News 9 it's Veronica and her body will be taken to Blackwell for funeral services.
