Oklahoma City is no longer being called fat by Men's Fitness Magazine. Instead, it is making the list of fittest cities in the U.S.
In 2007, Mayor Mick Cornett launched "This City is Going on a Diet" and started a web-based, weight-loss awareness program, after Men's Fitness ranked Oklahoma City the eighth fattest city.

Officials said since then, 47,000 participants lost about 1 million pounds, and citizens voted to invest nearly $1 billion in infrastructure designed to promote a healthier and more active lifestyle.
Oklahoma City is now ranked the 23rd healthiest city in the country. That's based on how many people eat fruits and veggies, work out for at least 30 minutes, five times a week, the number of heavy drinkers and smokers, and the percentage of adults who are considered healthy, obese, and overweight.
"We should feel great about this new ranking. Clearly we're doing better and clearly we have a long way to go," said Mayor Cornett. "The City Council and I have made this a priority."
Portland, Oregon is ranked the magazine's fittest city.
