The City of Norman's Police Department is accepting applications for the position of police officer.
Applications will be accepted through July 31 for the 50th police academy, tentatively scheduled to begin in February 2013. The starting annual salary is $41,990.
Here are the minimum qualifications for the position:
- Must be at least 21 and not over 45 years of age (unless prior member of the Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement System)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Sixty (60) college credit hours from an accredited college or university (Thirty (30) college credit hours may be waived if: three (3) years of military service and honorable discharge, or two (2) years prior law enforcement experience with a Police Department staffing 25 or more certified full-time Police Officers)
- Valid driver's license (out-of-state applicants must obtain an Oklahoma Driver's license if selected)
- Able to perform the essential duties of a Police Officer
