The Oklahoma City Animal Shelter wants to celebrate the births of several kittens in a special way this year.
Shelter officials are hosting a "Kitten Shower" for these newborns, and the public is invited to join the celebration.
The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on June 9 at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter, located at 2811 S.E. 29th Street.
Although it's a "kitten" shower, shelter officials say the puppies have a few needs too.
Shower gifts for these future companions include canned and dry kitten and puppy food, kitty litter, litter boxes and scoops, baby bottles, Esbilac kitten and puppy formula, toys, puppy pads, Pedialyte, pet shampoo, Dawn dish soap, pet carriers and towels.
Every year, the animal shelter takes care of thousands of un-weaned kittens and puppies until they are old enough for adoption, which is about eight weeks.
If you would like to adopt an animal, contact Katie Nix at Katie.nix@okc.gov.
