An Oklahoma City man is behind bars after assaulting a police officer following a traffic stop in the southwest part of the metro.
According to the police report, an officer stopped 36-year-old Fabian Sanchez Jr. on June 24 in the 900 block of SW 26th St. That officer then requested another unit at that location. When the second officer arrived he saw Sanchez standing in front of a home, later determined to be Sanchez's home, with the first officer pointing his taser and giving verbal commands to the suspect.
Sanchez was uncooperative and attempted to get past the first police officer and into the home.
The suspect hollered at the first officer, "Don't <expletive> touch me!" And when the officer went to secure Sanchez's left arm, he punched the officer in the face with his right fist.
Both officers were able to subdue the suspect and he was taken into custody.
Sanchez has a prior conviction of possession of a firearm while committing a felony, stemming from 1999 in Oklahoma County.
