Enid police arrested a 28-year-old man who is accused of raping a juvenile girl.
Chad Wesley Harlan was arrested on first degree rape charges Thursday afternoon.
The victim reported to police that she was raped by a man who identified himself as "Damian," at about 2 a.m. on Friday, July 20. She said the man was supposed to give her a ride home from a Wal-Mart store, located at 5505 W. Garriott. But instead, he drove her to a nearby parking lot and raped her in the backseat of the car.
On Thursday, August 2, police were called to the 800 block of E. Cherry, and were told that someone matching the description of the rape suspect was there.
Officers found a maroon, Lincoln Town car that matches the description of the suspect's vehicle. When they tried to speak with Harlan, he reportedly jumped a fence and fled on foot.
A short time later, emergency crews received a report that someone was possibly suffering from a heatstroke at a nearby home. Officers went to the home and determined that person was Harlan.
Apparently, according to police, Harlan walked up to that house and began drinking from their water hose. The residents at the home had Harlan come into their house not knowing that he was running from police.
Police say the residents called help for Harlan because he appeared to need medical attention.
Harlan was transported to Bass Hospital where he was treated and released. He was then taken into custody by police, and was transported to the Garfield County Detention Facility.
