Oklahoma City may be on track to have a surplus at the end of this year.
The general fund sales tax in Oklahoma City was up 16.7 percent in September compared to last year, totaling $18.5 million.
The general fund pays for day-to-day operations. It's included the more than $35 million in total sales taxes which also go to Maps 3, police and fire, and the zoo.
City officials say sales tax is the largest single source of revenue for Oklahoma City.
