Oklahoma City Police arrested Saturday night a woman accused of driving drunk while two children were with her in the car.
A concerned driver dialed 911 November 24 to report a suspected drunken driver near S.E. 59th Street and Foster. An officer spotted the car, which was also driving with a flat, front passenger tire. The driver was also seen running a red light and hitting a curb.
The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 35-year-old Joy Lynn Howard. The officer noted in a police report that Howard smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, and appeared disoriented.
Police had Howard perform sobriety tests, all of which she failed. She refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Howard was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma county jail on complaints of DUI and child endangerment.
The two children in the car – ages 12 and 11 – were released at the scene to a relative.
