The wife of Oklahoma City Thunder player Kendrick Perkins is making this year's senior prom much easier for five Douglass High School seniors.
Vanity Perkins asked all senior women from Douglass to write her a two-page essay about their most difficult moment in high school, and how they overcame it. The authors of the top-five papers are getting their prom night taken care of by Perkins.
It's not only a prom dress, but also hair, makeup, and transportation to and from the prom.
Jae' Briana Staten is one of the five girls who Perkins picked.
"All of this was going to be hard for my mom, you know," Staten said while weeping. "I am so thankful right now cause this is like it never would have been. I'm just so grateful."
Vanity Perkins also became emotional after Staten picked her prom dress.
"I was just doing something and giving back," said Perkins, also fighting back tears. "It just feels really good to do this."
As for what Vanity thinks her husband thinks about all of this, she said "Kendrick loves it, he knows I'm all about beautiful. I told him what I wanted to do, and he thought it was perfect."
