City leaders in Tulsa are weighing a request to change the name of Brady Street, which runs right through the burgeoning Brady Arts and entertainment District. Many object because the namesake, Tate Brady, a prominent Tulsa businessman was also affiliated with the KKK.
Here's what you had to say.. Jennifer first:
"Unless they are going to erase the Brady name from everything, changing the name of the street is a futile effort that will just cost taxpayers.."
But Jesse says: "No question, the name should have been changed a long time ago."
From Jeff: "90 years later they are still trying to blame others for the destruction in Tulsa...its time to stop pointing fingers and move on people!"
Daniel points out: "Every city has an MLK street and the Brady district name should not change."
Dennis: "Repudiating Brady by changing the name is called positive evolution..!"
William adds: "If we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it...a historical wrong that has been committed."
But Cyrus asks: "Are we supposed to re-write history every time someone is offended?"
Festus says: "..if you read a little history on Brady, he helped lay the foundation for the development of the city."
But Walt closes with this: "The City of Tulsa should erect a Tulsa Driller sized klan statue in the middle of the Brady District to honor this great Tulsan."
