After a day-long search for a suspected killer and rapist in the Village, police made an arrest late Friday night. Village Police confirmed Albert Johnson was booked into jail.
Early on, police had few leads beyond the suspect's vehicle. That's until he was involved in a minor car wreck in Bethany, which led police right to him.
Well into the night, Village Police processed evidence like the Gray Mazda officers spent Friday looking for to track down Johnson. Police say he took off in the SUV early Friday morning after attacking two women in the 2900 block of Lakeside Drive between Sunrise Blvd. and Northland Rd.
It sent shockwaves through the typically quiet neighborhood.
"Haven't really had an issue before," said Alex Charon, who lives across the street. "So to see something like this as the first issue is kind of nerve-wracking."
Village Police say a woman called saying she and a friend had been sexually assaulted.
Both women were taken to the hospital, but the 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead on arrival.
Sparking an area-wide manhunt for the suspect both women knew.
A breakthrough came when Bethany Police got a call around 8:30 Friday night that a man was driving around this apartment complex drunk. They later discovered that the man was suspect Albert Johnson.

"It was learned that he was attempting to stay with some other women in our city," said Lt. Jason Skaggs of the Bethany Police Dept.
Bethany Police first arrested Johnson at the Hammond Manor apartments on 38th Street, for allegedly driving under the influence.
"After he's been detained, he tells the officer that I'm the one you're looking for," Skaggs said.
Police say Johnson gave himself up without a fight.
"I think under the circumstances that we're very fortunate that the officer didn't have to use some kind of force or end up in a pursuit."
The second victim is still in the hospital being treated for her injuries; her child was inside the home during the attack but was not harmed. Police tell us she was dating Johnson.
Johnson is now at the Oklahoma County Jail. He is being booked on first degree murder and rape as well as kidnapping and assault and battery.
Right now police are not releasing the cause of death or the possible weapons.
