Former Wanette Teacher Accused Of Child Porn Crimes Involving Students

A former teacher with Wanette Public Schools in Pottawatomie County faces two counts of Soliciting Child Pornography and two counts of Possession of Obscene Material Child Pornography involving two students, according to court documents.

The investigation revealed 43-year-old Charles Clay Dawson had been communicating with two teenage girls through text messages and the KIK application.

Dawson told police he requested a 16-year-old student send him naked photos of her breasts and vaginal area. The student told investigators she felt she would not pass her class with Dawson if she did not send the photos.

Dawson also admitted to authorities he received three nude photos from a 15-year-old student. However, he told investigators that he did not request those images. He also told investigators he knew the actions were wrong but did not report the incidents to anyone or authorities.

Court documents against Dawson were filed in Pottawatomie County on March 31.

He was placed behind bars without bond.
