State Treasurer Presents Check To Tax Day Baby At Mercy Hospital

Baby Michael Lauritsen was the first baby born Wednesday, at Mercy Hospital.

State Treasurer Ken Miller presented parents Kelli and Brett with a check of more than $1,500 as part of Oklahoma's 529 College Savings Plan.

"We were surprised and obviously very thankful. It's always great to start saving soon, right away and plan for the future immediately," said parents, Kelli and Brett.

Mom and dad said they actually filed their taxes yesterday and joked that it's probably what put Kelli into labor.
