Moore homeowners still reeling from a tornado back in March are getting a boost this week from middle school and high school students from Texas.
A Baptist organization called “Student Disaster Recovery” or “BOUNCE” is in Moore all week. About 150 students are completing all kinds of tasks.
“We’re working on 15 properties in Moore,” said Student Disaster Recovery’s Lyle Crim. “And we’re doing anything from roofs to painting, clearing brush, building fences, whatever the community needed, whatever these houses needed, we’re willing to come forward to do it.”
Emily Richardson is a 17-year-old volunteer from El Paso.
“In the Bible, it says you’re supposed to serve others," Richardson said.
Richardson and some of her peers worked on Jody Branson’s house Tuesday afternoon. Branson’s roof took heavy damage during a EF1 tornado on March 25.
“It’s wonderful to have young people doing something positive and something wonderful,” he said.
