A deadly shooting in a Southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood is raising questions.
Police responded to a call to 7912 South Villa shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday. Police said the homeowner confronted a man who had just stolen a pickup truck out of the homeowner’s driveway. Police said the homeowner shot and killed the alleged thief.
Mike Richards lives a block away from the shooting, which he said he hoped was legally justified. “I hope the word gets out to other thieves if he friends, don’t come over here and try to steal stuff. I mean that’s personally how I feel about it.”
Oklahoma City Police Spokesman Gary Knight said the District Attorney’s Office will determine whether or not the shooting was legally justified. “We’re still in the very preliminary stages at this point,” he said late Thursday afternoon.
