Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in southwest Oklahoma City, early Monday morning.
According to Oklahoma City police, at 12:19 a.m., a man called officers to report that his son was intoxicated and "tearing up the house." Additionally, officers learned that there were multiple firearms inside the home.
When officers arrived at the home in the 2700 block of S.W. 49th, they said they heard gunshots coming from inside the house.
Shortly after, officers said a man, later identified as 26-year-old Jesse Wayne Archer, came out of the house and made a threatening gesture towards police. Officer Gregory Franklin fired a shot at Archer. Archer was struck in the leg and went back inside to the house.
According to police, Archer reemerged a short time later and surrendered to police. He was taken to the hospital and is said to be in stable condition.
Officer Franklin, who's been with the Oklahoma City Police Department for three years, is now on administrative leave pending result of the investigation.
