Investigators said a hit and run crash that killed a pregnant Oklahoma City woman in Del City was not random.

The woman was killed and her husband survived, but Del City Police said he is not cooperating with them.

Police said they believe whoever ran the couple off the road came back to the scene to try to finish the job.

Shartel Brown died in the crash and her husband, Demetrius Stamps, survived.

Brown was seven months pregnant.

Del City Police said they believe two black men ran the couple off the road near SE 29th and Bryant.

“Like in any case, the first 48 hours count to solve this and that's what's most important is collect all the evidence and get it fresh,” said Del City Police Captain Ted Kleber.

Investigators think the suspects and the couple met up at a 7-Eleven store on SE 44th Street late Thursday night.

An altercation happened and the suspects, driving a white Dodge Caliber, chased the couple in the red Ford Mustang, going about 70 miles per hour.

Police said the Mustang hit a curb and slammed into the tree.

A witness who stopped to help says the two men in the Dodge ran back to the car and tried to pull Stamps out of the driver’s seat, possibly to beat him up.

The witness spooked the men and they left.

Police said Stamps is not cooperating.

“He wasn't cooperative last night, we've let the medical people take care of it,” Capt. Kleber explained.  “Today, we are going to revisit with him this afternoon and see where he's going with that, but as of right now, he's not being very cooperative,” he added.

Police are collecting evidence from the car and pulling surveillance video from the convenience store to see if cameras caught the fight, since Stamps is not talking to them.

“To me it's puzzling, there is something that was going on that he doesn't want to tell us,” Capt. Kleber told News 9.

Investigators are not releasing the motive in this deadly crash.

We checked Demetrius Stamps' record and he has several past and current drug cases against him.

Call Del City Police if you know the suspects who ran the couple off the road.
