A half-cent sales tax has passed in Del City, according to election results.
The sales tax increase passed with 62 percent of the vote or 651 votes. The no votes were 398 votes.
The half-cent sales tax increase will be earmarked for new business incentives and neighborhood enhancements, Del City City Manager Mark Edwards told News 9 Thursday.
“We’ve got some good momentum going,” Edwards said. “We want to improve parks in these neighborhoods. We want to improve lighting in these neighborhoods. We want to get sidewalks going so that the kids that go to school are walking out on the sidewalk, not on the street.”
